HIP & RIDGE CHIMNEY CAPS
With all the benefits of a standard chimney cap, our ridge caps also provide protection from the building of osprey nests. Ridge caps also provide a pleasant aesthetic to the chimney top. Ridge chimney caps can constructed from 304 stainless steel or from copper. Powder coating is available in a variety of colors with the stainless steel option. Our standard screen height is 10" with a 8/12 (33°) pitch and 4" overhang on the chimney cap lid. Greater or lesser pitched lids are available depending on preference.
Osprey typically return to the South Shore and Cape Cod in mid to late March. Their nest building usually begins in early to mid April and can become quite problematic. A hip & ridge style cap will prevent them from ever beginning to form a nest.
